Delete your Medix account
How account deletion works, what is removed, and what is retained. This page is for clinic staff accounts — for patient-record requests, contact the clinic that treats you.
How to delete your account
- Sign in to Medix, open Account → Security.
- Choose “Delete my Medix account”.
- Confirm with your password (and your authenticator code, if you use two-factor authentication). Deletion takes effect immediately.
The same steps apply in the Medix mobile app under Settings → Account. If you cannot sign in, email support@medix.healthcare from the address on your account and we will verify your identity and complete the deletion for you.
What is deleted
- Your login: email address, password, and two-factor secrets.
- All of your active sessions, on every device, immediately.
- Personal integrations, including connected calendar credentials.
- Your notifications, recovery codes, and pending reset tokens.
Your email address is released, so it is no longer associated with the account. Deletion is permanent — there is no recovery window.
What is retained, and why
- Clinic medical records are not yours to delete. Patient records, appointments, visits, and clinical photos belong to the clinic and its patients. They remain intact, including your name as professional attribution on care you documented — medical-record integrity requires knowing who performed and recorded treatment.
- Audit and security history is retained. Records of what was accessed, exported, or changed — including entries that reference your account by identifier — are kept as required for accountability and legal obligations. They are append-only and are not used for any other purpose.
- Legal-document acceptances are retained as evidence that terms were accepted while the account existed.
If deletion is blocked
- You own a clinic workspace: ownership must be transferred before the owning account can be deleted, so the organization — and its patients’ records — are never left without a responsible owner. Contact support to arrange the transfer.
- You are a practitioner with patients or upcoming appointments: hand your patients over first using Settings → Leave clinic, which walks through reassignment. Then delete your account.
The app shows the specific reason and the next step whenever deletion is blocked — it will never fail silently.
Subscriptions
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription billed outside Medix. Clinic subscriptions belong to the organization and continue for its remaining members; a subscription purchased through an app store must be cancelled in your store account's subscription settings, and we tell you this again during deletion.
Patient data requests
This page covers staff accounts. If you are a patient and want your records corrected or erased, contact the clinic that treats you — they operate the legally accountable process for patient data, and Medix provides them the tools to complete it, including deletion receipts.
